Flameproof Plugs (also known as Explosion-Proof Plugs or Ex d Plugs) are designed and manufactured as specialized electrical connectors for use in potentially explosive environments where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts are present. These are safety-critical devices that protect against the risk of electrical sparks, arcs, or hot surfaces igniting the surrounding explosive atmosphere, and are widely used in various industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical plants, refineries, chemical processing plants, mining, pharmaceuticals, paint & varnish plants, offshore platforms, and grain handling systems.

It is designed to safely connect and disconnect electrical equipment in potentially explosive environments. The plug body is housed in a strong flameproof case that encloses any internal arcing or sparking during the process of connecting and disconnecting the equipment, thereby preventing the escape of flames into the surrounding environment.

Made from high-quality cast aluminum alloy LM6 or stainless steel, the flameproof plug has high mechanical strength, resistance to corrosion, and long service life. The plug is designed and tested as per IS/IEC 60079-1 specifications and approved for use in Zone 1 & Zone 2 (Gas Groups IIA, IIB, IIC) and Zone 21 & Zone 22 (Dust) hazardous areas.
